How do I switch from Audible listening back to reading a Kindle book?
Answer
Open the Kindle book on your Kindle device or Kindle app to read instead of playing the Audible narration. Keep Sync Listening Position on if you still move between reading and listening. To stop Audible billing, cancel Audible membership after using remaining credits, and manage digital orders or returns from Amazon Orders or Audible purchase history.

- Unused Audible credits are typically lost when the final Audible billing cycle ends after cancellation.
Follow these steps
Open the Kindle edition to read
On your Kindle or in the Kindle app, open the ebook titled as Kindle Edition for that book. If only the audiobook appears, go to Amazon, find the Kindle edition, and buy or download it to the same account if you do not already own it.
You should see: The book opens as text you can read, not as Audible audio playback.
Keep place sync if you still switch formats
If you sometimes listen and sometimes read, turn on Sync Listening Position in Audible settings so your place can follow when both editions support Whispersync.
You should see: Your reading and listening position stay aligned when the titles are linked.
Check Amazon digital orders for cancel or refund options
Open Amazon, go to Your Orders or Digital Orders, find the recent title (for example a mistaken audiobook purchase), and use Cancel Order or Return for Refund if Amazon still offers it for that item.
You should see: You cancel or return an eligible digital order, or see that the return window has closed.
Review Audible purchase history in a browser if needed
On iPhone, use the Audible website in Safari rather than only the app: sign in, tap your name, open Purchase history, check Your orders, and widen the date range if the title is missing.
You should see: You locate the Audible purchase or membership charge you need to manage.
Cancel Audible if you only want Kindle reading
If you no longer want Audible, use remaining credits first, then cancel the Audible membership from Amazon/Audible account settings. Afterward, continue buying or reading Kindle ebooks normally.
You should see: Audible membership is set to end, and Kindle reading continues without Audible billing.

Extra tips
What to look for: Kindle Edition versus Audible audiobook in your library, Sync Listening Position in Audible settings, and Cancel Order / Return for Refund options on recent digital purchases.
Before you change anything: Confirm whether you own the Kindle ebook, the Audible audiobook, or both. Use remaining Audible credits before cancelling if you still want them—unused credits are usually lost when membership ends. Use official Amazon and Audible account pages only. Never share Amazon passwords or codes with unexpected callers.
