How do I fix a wireless TV box that shows no signal upstairs?

Answer

When the account is fine but one wireless TV box shows “No signal,” the problem is usually power, pairing with the main gateway, or weak wireless video range upstairs—not billing. Power-cycling that box on a wall outlet and re-pairing it to the main receiver often restores the picture.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Ignore unexpected calls offering to repair your TV box remotely; manage the account only through your provider’s official app, site, or published support number.

Follow these steps

  1. Power the wireless box from a wall outlet

Unplug the upstairs wireless box from any power strip, plug it directly into a wall outlet, and confirm any power light comes on.

You should see: The box shows a power or status light instead of staying completely dark.

  2. Restart the main box and upstairs box together

Unplug the main TV box and the upstairs wireless box for 60 seconds, plug the main box back in first and wait until it fully boots, then plug in the upstairs box.

You should see: Both boxes finish starting; the upstairs TV either shows a picture or a pairing message instead of a hard no-signal screen.

  3. Re-pair or refresh the wireless box

Use the provider’s pairing or wireless client setup steps from the main box menu or the official account app. Follow on-screen prompts until the upstairs box is listed as connected.

You should see: The upstairs box pairs successfully and live TV or the guide loads.

  4. Reduce range issues if pairing succeeds but picture drops

Move the wireless box or main box away from thick walls, microwaves, or metal cabinets, or try a closer room temporarily to test whether distance is the cause.

You should see: You can tell whether the no-signal problem is distance-related or a failed box that needs provider replacement.

Extra tips

What to look for: A “No signal” message on the upstairs TV, whether the wireless box has any power or status lights, and whether other TVs on the same account still work.

Before you change anything: Confirm other TVs on the account still work. Note the provider name and wireless box model if printed on the device. Have someone able to check the main living-room box while you restart the upstairs box. Avoid paying anyone who calls claiming they can “unlock” the box remotely.
