How do I fix a phone that says no cellular network available?

Answer

This usually means the SIM or eSIM is off, missing, or not registered with the carrier. Restarting the phone and confirming the line is enabled in SIM manager often restores the network.

Follow these steps

  1. Restart the phone completely

    Power the phone all the way off, wait about 30 seconds, then turn it back on and wait for network bars or carrier name to appear.

    You should see: The phone finishes booting and either restores service or still shows the same network message.

  2. Open SIM manager

    Go to Settings, then Connections, then SIM manager.

    You should see: You see the installed SIM or eSIM lines listed for the phone.

  3. Confirm the carrier line is on

    Check whether your carrier, such as Metro, is listed as a SIM or eSIM, and make sure that line is turned on for calls and mobile data.

    You should see: The correct line is enabled and the phone attempts to register on the cellular network.

  4. Compare calls and mobile data

    After the line is enabled, test a phone call and a mobile-data page load with Wi-Fi turned off.

    You should see: Either both work again, or you can tell whether the issue is full network/SIM failure versus calls only.

  5. Contact the carrier if the SIM is on but still has no service

    If the SIM or eSIM is enabled and the error remains, contact the carrier to check for an account, provisioning, or outage issue on that line.

    You should see: The carrier confirms whether the line is active or needs to be refreshed on their side.
