How do I unfreeze an Android phone stuck on the power-off screen?

When Android freezes on the power menu, a force restart is usually required: hold the power button (or power + volume down on many phones) for about 20–30 seconds until the device reboots. After it starts, leave it unplugged briefly, then test charging with a known-good cable if the freeze happened while unplugging.

Follow these steps
Force-restart the phone
Press and hold Power for about 20–30 seconds. If nothing happens, hold Power and Volume Down together for about 20–30 seconds until the screen goes black and the manufacturer logo appears.
You should see: The phone reboots and returns to the lock screen instead of the frozen power menu.
Leave it unplugged for a minute
After reboot, keep the charger disconnected for about a minute so the phone finishes starting on battery power alone.
You should see: The phone stays responsive without immediately freezing again.
Test charging with a known-good cable
Try a different cable and wall charger that work on another device. Plug in gently and watch whether the battery icon starts charging without the UI freezing.
You should see: Charging begins normally, or you confirm the original cable/charger is unreliable.
Update and watch for repeats
Once unlocked, install any pending system updates and reboot once more from Settings. If the phone freezes again whenever you unplug power, contact the manufacturer or carrier for hardware support.
You should see: The phone runs normally after update, or you have evidence of a recurring charging-related freeze.
