How do I set up a Starlink Mini when I cannot find the KIT number?
Answer
Install the official Starlink app, start Mini setup, and use the serial number from the dish or router when the app allows that option instead of a KIT number. If setup still blocks on KIT, contact Starlink support with the serial number from an official account path.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Only download the Starlink app from official app stores and only enter hardware IDs on official Starlink screens.
Follow these steps
Find and photograph the serial number
Inspect the Starlink Mini dish, router, and box for a serial number or other hardware ID. Photograph it clearly so you can enter it without guessing.
You should see: You have a readable serial number even though no KIT label is present.
Install the Starlink app
On your phone, install or update the official Starlink app from Google Play or the App Store. Sign in to the Starlink account that should own this Mini.
You should see: The Starlink app opens and shows options to set up or manage hardware.
Start Mini setup and use the serial number
Follow in-app setup for Starlink Mini. When asked for a KIT number, look for an option to enter a serial number or scan the hardware instead, then enter the serial from the unit.
You should see: Setup accepts the serial number or shows a clear message if it still requires a KIT identifier.
Finish connection or contact support
Complete Wi-Fi naming and any remaining prompts. If the app will not proceed without a KIT number, use Starlink support chat or help from within the signed-in app and provide the serial number and photos of the labels.
You should see: The Mini comes online, or Starlink support can map the serial number to your account and unblock activation.

Extra tips
What to look for: A setup step asking for a KIT number, and a serial number printed on the Mini dish, router, or packaging that does not start with KIT.
Before you change anything: Install the Starlink app only from the official App Store or Google Play. Photograph the serial number on the unit before starting setup. Have the Starlink account email ready. Never share account passwords or one-time codes with unexpected callers.
