How do I fix a Samsung TV stuck on the language setup screen?

Answer

This usually means the TV is in initial setup and is not receiving reliable remote input, not that the new modem itself is broken. A 60-second power reset and using the TV’s physical buttons instead of the remote often lets you finish or skip the language screen.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Do not share passwords, recovery codes, or one-time codes with anyone who contacts you unexpectedly about TV or modem setup.

Follow these steps

  1. Power-reset the TV

Turn the TV off, unplug it from the wall outlet for 60 seconds, then plug it back in and power it on.

You should see: The TV restarts and returns to the language or setup screen in a cleaner state.

  2. Use the TV’s physical buttons

Ignore the remote for this attempt. Use the TV’s physical buttons or control panel to move through the language list and confirm a selection.

You should see: The highlight moves and you can leave the language screen, or you confirm the panel also does not respond.

  3. Recheck remote batteries and line of sight

If physical buttons work but the remote does not, replace the remote batteries, remove anything blocking the front sensor, and try again from a few feet away.

You should see: The remote begins controlling the setup menus, or it still fails and points to a remote or IR sensor problem.

  4. Separate TV setup from modem setup

Finish or exit the TV language setup first. Only after the TV reaches the normal home or source screens should you reconnect Wi-Fi or cable equipment from the new modem.

You should see: The TV is usable for basic input selection even if network setup is finished later.

Extra tips

What to look for: A language selection screen with no error codes, and whether the TV’s physical buttons respond when the remote does not.

Before you change anything: Confirm the TV model is Samsung UN22D5003BFXZA or the same setup behavior. Keep the TV powered from a working outlet after the modem change. Have the remote nearby, but plan to use the TV buttons if the remote fails. Never share account passwords or one-time codes with unexpected callers.
