How do I fix a Gmail account already connected when moving Fitbit to Google?

Answer

In the Fitbit app, open Today > Devices, remove or disconnect the old Fitbit hardware still linked to the account, then retry the Google connection. If the error remains, review Fitbit account settings for Your data in Fitbit / Google linking and complete any prompted unlink or transfer steps on the official Fitbit/Google path.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Removing a device can stop sync for that tracker; confirm you selected the old unit before continuing.
  • Stop if a site or popup asks you to pay to unlock a Fitbit or Google account link.

Follow these steps

  1. Open the Fitbit devices list

In the Fitbit app, go to Today, open Devices (or the account device list), and note every tracker or watch still linked—including old hardware you no longer use.

You should see: You see the old device that may still be holding the Google/Gmail link.

  2. Remove or disconnect the old device

Select the old Fitbit device, choose Remove Device or Disconnect, and follow the prompts until it is no longer listed on the account.

You should see: Only the device you intend to keep remains, or the list is empty before re-pairing.

  3. Retry the Google or Google Health connection

Return to the Fitbit Google linking or Google Health transfer flow and sign in with the same Gmail when prompted.

You should see: The already-connected error is gone, or you get a clearer next prompt about Your data in Fitbit.

  4. Finish data and device pairing prompts

Complete any screens about Your data in Fitbit, permissions, or pairing the current tracker. Restart the Fitbit app once if the link still fails.

You should see: Fitbit shows a successful Google connection and the current device syncs.

Extra tips

What to look for: Error text that Gmail is already connected to another device, Fitbit Devices list, Remove Device or Disconnect, and settings about Your data in Fitbit or Google linking.

Before you change anything: Charge and keep both old and new trackers nearby until you finish device removal. Back up or export Fitbit data if the app offers it before unlinking Google. Use only the official Fitbit app and Google account prompts. Do not pay a third party to unlock a Fitbit–Google link.
