Why won’t a Fitbit Versa 4 pair or sync with an iPhone?

Answer

Charge the Versa 4, restart Bluetooth on the iPhone, force-restart the watch, restart the iPhone, then retry setup in the official Fitbit app with the watch nearby on the charger.

Follow these steps

  1. Charge the Versa 4

Place the Versa 4 on its charger and wait until it has enough battery to stay awake through setup.

You should see: The watch stays powered on and still shows the language or setup screen.

  2. Toggle Bluetooth on the iPhone

On the iPhone, open Settings, turn Bluetooth off, wait about 10 seconds, then turn Bluetooth back on.

You should see: Bluetooth is on and ready for a fresh pairing attempt.

  3. Restart the Versa 4

Hold the side button for about 10 seconds until the Fitbit logo appears, then release and wait for the watch to reboot.

You should see: The Versa 4 restarts and returns to the language or pairing-ready screen.

  4. Restart the iPhone

Power the iPhone fully off, wait 30 seconds, turn it back on, and unlock it before opening the Fitbit app.

You should see: The iPhone finishes restarting with Bluetooth available.

  5. Retry setup in the Fitbit app

Open the Fitbit app, keep the Versa 4 nearby on the charger, and go through device setup again. When prompted, complete the language selection on the watch and approve any Bluetooth pairing request on the iPhone.

You should see: The Versa 4 appears for pairing, leaves the stuck English screen, and begins syncing with the app.

  6. Remove a stuck Bluetooth entry if needed

If an old Versa 4 entry appears under My Devices in iPhone Bluetooth settings, tap the info icon, choose Forget This Device, then repeat the Fitbit app setup.

You should see: The iPhone no longer holds a broken pairing record and can discover the watch again.

Extra tips

What to look for: Whether the Versa 4 stays on the English language screen, and whether the iPhone Bluetooth list ever shows Versa 4 during pairing

Before you change anything: Charge the Versa 4 so it will not power off mid-setup. Install or update the official Fitbit app from the App Store. Keep the watch within a few feet of the iPhone during pairing. Avoid random third-party pairing apps or unexpected links that ask for account codes.
