Why does an app still reject the new password and keep using the old one?
Answer
This usually means the app or the device password manager is still using a saved old password, or the new password has not fully synced yet. Re-entering the password carefully, waiting briefly after the change, then signing out or reinstalling the app often fixes it.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Stop if a site or popup asks you to pay to unlock an account or install unknown software.
- Uninstalling an app may remove local settings or downloads for that app on the device.
Follow these steps
Sign in again without autofill
Open the app, clear the username and password fields, then type the new credentials manually. Watch for uppercase letters, spaces, and special characters.
You should see: Sign-in succeeds, or you get a clear wrong-password or account message that is not caused by autofill.
Wait and refresh after a password change
If the password was just changed, wait about 30 minutes, then reopen the app or refresh the sign-in screen and try again with the new password.
You should see: The new password is accepted after the short wait, or the error stays the same and you can move to sign-out steps.
Sign out of the app or all sessions
Use Sign out, Log out, or Log out of all sessions if the app or account settings offer it. On a smart TV, check the app’s settings menu for a sign-out option.
You should see: Saved session data is cleared and the app asks for a fresh sign-in.
Remove and reinstall the app if needed
If the old password still appears, delete or uninstall the app from the TV or phone settings, reinstall it from the official app store, then sign in with the new password typed manually.
You should see: The app opens with empty login fields and accepts the new password.

Extra tips
What to look for: A wrong password message after a recent password change, and whether the username or password fields autofill without typing.
Before you change anything: Confirm you changed the password for the same account the app uses. Have the new password available from a password manager or secure note you control. Prefer signing out of the app before deleting data or reinstalling. Never share passwords or one-time codes with unexpected callers or popups.
