What can you check when Bose QC25 noise canceling stops working?
Answer
Replace or reseat the AAA battery, confirm the noise-canceling power switch is on, and inspect the battery door contacts before assuming the QC25 must be replaced.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Do not force the battery door or use damaged batteries that can leak.
Follow these steps
Install a fresh AAA battery
Open the right ear cup battery door, insert a new AAA alkaline battery in the correct orientation, and close the door firmly.
You should see: The headphones power noise canceling when the switch is turned on.
Turn noise canceling on
Set the inline or ear-cup power switch to On and listen for the brief power tone if your model provides one.
You should see: Ambient noise drops compared with ANC off.
Clean battery contacts
If ANC still fails, remove the battery and gently clean the metal contacts, then reinsert a known-good battery.
You should see: Contacts look clean and ANC powers on.
Test wired audio separately
Plug in the audio cable and play sound with ANC on and off to separate cable issues from ANC power issues.
You should see: You know whether only ANC failed or audio failed too.
Seek Bose support if hardware is dead
If a fresh battery and clean contacts never enable ANC, contact Bose or an authorized repair option rather than buying random parts first.
You should see: You get an official repair, replacement, or end-of-support guidance.

Extra tips
What to look for: Whether wired audio still plays with ANC off, and whether the battery door LED or switch behavior changed.
Before you change anything: Have a fresh AAA alkaline battery ready. Note whether you use them wired or with a Bluetooth adapter module. Avoid opening the ear cups beyond the battery door.
