Why won’t Bose Ultra Open Earbuds appear in the Bluetooth pairing list?

Answer

Put the earbuds in the case correctly, start pairing mode until the status light indicates Ready to pair, toggle phone Bluetooth, and forget old Bose entries before scanning again. Keep the case open near the phone; if they still never appear, reset the earbuds per Bose’s button sequence.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • Do not share Bose or Google account codes with unexpected callers offering remote pairing help.

Follow these steps

  1. Start pairing mode from the case

Place both earbuds in the case, open the lid, and use the Bose pairing control until the light indicates pairing/Ready to pair.

You should see: The case shows a pairing indicator and stays in that state.

  2. Clear stale Bluetooth entries

On the phone, turn Bluetooth off and on, forget any existing Bose Ultra/Open entries, then open the Bluetooth scan screen.

You should see: Old Bose listings are removed and a fresh scan is running.

  3. Select the earbuds in the list

Keep the open case next to the phone and tap the Bose earbuds name when it appears; accept pairing prompts.

You should see: The phone shows Connected.

  4. Reset if they never appear

Follow Bose’s official reset sequence for Ultra Open Earbuds, then repeat pairing mode and scan.

You should see: The earbuds advertise again and can be paired.

Extra tips

What to look for: Case LED pairing indication, “Ready to pair” status, and whether an old Bose item already exists under Bluetooth settings.

Before you change anything: Charge the case briefly. Disable other nearby phones that might auto-grab the buds. Use the official Bose Music app only after Bluetooth pairing succeeds if needed. Stay within a few feet during pairing.
