Why does a replaced tracker still show up in the tracking app?

Answer

Most tracker apps keep a device entry until it is manually removed. Replacing a lost tracker with a new one usually does not delete the old entry on its own, so both can appear in the same profile until the old device is removed by hand.

Before you start: stop right away if…

  • If removing a device also offers to delete location history or account data, read the confirmation screen carefully before continuing.

Follow these steps

  1. Open the pet or item profile

In the tracker app, open the specific pet or item profile rather than the device or tracker settings page. The old and new tracker entries are usually both linked to that one profile.

You should see: The profile screen shows a list of every tracker ever linked to it.

  2. Find the old tracker in the device list

Look for the tracker with the earlier activation date or the one that has not reported a new location recently. Tap it to open its device details.

You should see: The old tracker's individual settings page opens.

  3. Remove or unlink the old tracker

Choose the option to remove, unlink, or forget this device, if the app offers one. This usually sits under a settings or device management menu on that tracker's page.

You should see: The old tracker disappears from the profile, leaving only the new one.

  4. Confirm only the new tracker remains

Return to the pet or item profile and confirm only one tracker is now listed and it is reporting a current location.

You should see: The profile shows a single active tracker.

Extra tips

What to look for: A profile or device list showing two tracker entries for the same pet or item, one old and one new

Before you change anything: Confirm which entry is the new tracker by checking its serial number or activation date. Make sure the new tracker is already working and reporting location before removing the old one. Confirm you are signed in to the correct account in the official app. Never share your account password or verification codes with anyone.
