Why won’t my TV turn on after I moved it and reconnected everything?
Answer
Unplug the TV, wait a minute, then plug only the power cord into a different wall outlet. If it still stays dead, try another outlet circuit and a known-good power cord before arranging service.
Before you start: stop right away if…
- Unplug the TV before inspecting cables to reduce electrical risk.
- Do not open the TV chassis; high-voltage parts can remain dangerous.
Follow these steps
Power-reset the TV
Unplug the TV from the wall, wait 60 seconds, then plug it directly into a different wall outlet with nothing else connected except the power cord.
You should see: A standby light appears or the TV turns on, or it stays dark.
Test the outlet
Plug a lamp or phone charger into the same outlet and into any surge strip you were using. Replace a dead strip or move to a working outlet.
You should see: You confirm whether power is available.
Reconnect one device at a time
Once the TV powers on, reconnect HDMI devices one at a time and choose the correct input. If it goes dark only after a certain device is connected, inspect that cable.
You should see: The TV stays on with inputs restored, or a specific cable causes trouble.
Seek service if still dead
If there is no standby light on multiple known-good outlets, contact Sony support or a qualified TV technician. Check purchase or protection-plan coverage before paying for repair.
You should see: You have a repair, replacement, or claim path.

Extra tips
What to look for: No power light after reconnecting a moved TV, especially a Sony smart TV.
Before you change anything: Confirm the wall outlet works with a lamp. Avoid cheap damaged extension cords. Keep the TV unplugged while swapping cables. Do not open the TV case yourself.
