How do I reconnect an Amazon Echo after switching internet providers?
Answer
After switching internet providers, open the Amazon Alexa app, sign in with the same Amazon account, then change the Echo’s Wi-Fi under Devices > Echo & Alexa. Put the Echo into setup mode if it no longer appears online, and connect it to the new network name and password.

- Factory resetting an Echo removes local settings and may require re-adding skills and linked services.
Follow these steps
Sign in to the Alexa app
Open the Amazon Alexa app and sign in with the Amazon account that owns the Echo. Do not create a new account unless you intentionally want to move the device.
You should see: The app opens to your Home or Devices screen for that Amazon account.
Change the Echo Wi-Fi network
Go to Devices > Echo & Alexa, select the Echo Dot, then choose Change next to Wi-Fi Network. Follow the prompts to join the new provider’s Wi-Fi.
You should see: The Echo connects to the new network and shows as online in the app.
Use setup mode if the device stays offline
If Change Wi-Fi is unavailable, put the Echo into setup mode using Amazon’s button sequence for that model, wait for the orange or setup light, then add or reconnect the device in the Alexa app.
You should see: The phone finds the Echo in setup mode and can send the new Wi-Fi details.
Test Alexa after reconnecting
Ask a simple question such as the weather or time, and confirm the Echo’s light responds. If music or skills fail but basic replies work, wait a minute for services to refresh.
You should see: Alexa answers normally on the new internet connection.

Extra tips
What to look for: Echo light behavior during setup, whether the device appears offline in the Alexa app, and any Wi-Fi or connection messages shown for that Echo Dot.
Before you change anything: Know the new Wi-Fi network name and password. Confirm you still have the Amazon account that originally registered the Echo. Keep the phone on the same new Wi-Fi network during setup when possible. Avoid third-party “relink” links sent by unexpected messages.
